why does it cost less to fly from san diego to lihue than from lax?
The San diego flight already has a stop over in LAX. but if I start in LAX it's about $40 more. Y?

Airlines use a complex method to set the prices for flight segments and it's fairly common to see the longer journey costing less than the shorter, even if the shorter journey is part of the longer. Many times this is done to help ensure they do not sell so many seats on the shorter journey that they have to turn away folks for the longer trip. In other words, they would rather sell the ticket to someone travelling from San Diego-Hawaii than someone travelling from LA-Hawaii even if the San Diego passenger has to go through LA on their way. This could be because the overall demand for San Diego-Hawaii is much higher, or because there is a competitor airline flying the same route and the airline wants to draw business away from the competitor. For what it's worth, if you buy the ticket from San Diego and try to skip the San Diego-LA portion, they will count you as a no-show and cancel your entire ticket. But if you miss on the way back, and get off the plane in LA and don't continue on, this is just fine as long as you don't expect any kind of refund, and as long as you don't make it a habit.

What is the cheapest place to book a flight from WI to San Diego, CA for three weeks from now
What is the cheapest place to book a flight from WI to San Diego, CA for three weeks from now?
My friend is having a last minute wedding in CA - and asked me to be a bridesmaid/witness. I live in Wisconsin, so need to fly out of either Milwaukee, Appleton, or Green Bay. I am flying to San Diego, CA. The dates are May 15-17. I need to arrive in CA by 6pmish (or before). Someone help me please??? I am a full-time student if that saves any on fares.

Most of the internet websites are not charging booking fees currently. I always use kayak.com as a first reference point, then if there's a booking fee, move direct to the airline website to book/buy the ticket. David Rowell http://www.thetravelinsider.info
2 :
Try Jet Blue, Southwest, and TravelZoo. There have been some fantastic rates lately.
3 :
I've found that Southwest has the best prices for last minute flights.
4 :
Your best bet is to go to Sidestep.com and do a search. It searches numerous sources at once. You can also try Priceline.com, but use the name your own price and go about $100 less than the lowest price on Sidestep for a starting price. You may get lucky. The regular search on priceline, by the way, usually won't reveal anything cheaper than other mass search sites. Sidestep has been, for me, far more helpful than orbitz, expedia, travelocity, etc. It's more thorough, and usually finds better deals. Also, there are several sites that do "last minute travel" searches for weekend trips that can find sometimes cheaper flight packages. Flying midweek is always cheaper, because there's less demand. Being willing to take a red-eye flight can save you a lot of money as well. My husband saved $211 by taking a flight that went through the night. We figured, he'd be sleeping anyway, so why not save the money?
5 :
try midwest airlines from green bay to la and then take a commuter plane down from la to sd
6 :
Sometimes your friends/family might get discount rates if they are union members or are AAA members. You might check with your family to see if you can get a discount if they buy the ticket and you re-imburse them.
7 :
there are quite a few sites that you can search that will likely give you the best prices available. just go here: http://bookme.com/flights.php and you will be able to compare prices on all the reputable travel sites in just a couple minutes. it's very convenient and will save you a bunch of time and money. Also, make sure you buy them online... otherwise they charge much higher fees for phone orders. good luck.

Try Southwest Airlines.
2 :
If you go to www.expedia.com and put in SFO (San Francisco) and SAN (San Diego) for March 23rd, it will tell you all the airlines that fly that route, except Southwest. Then go to each airlines website (just type the name of the airline in your search engine) and check the costs there. It's better if you book through the airlines. Southwest generally has very good prices, so check them first. Finally, while you are looking, check flights from any Bay Area airport that will work for you (SFO, Oakland, San Jose (SJC). If you can use one of them, it might be cheaper. Good luck!
3 :
Your best bets would be either Southwest airlines or Virgin America airlines.

Cheap tickets are just that. Cheap…….they may or may not work for you……..take what your comfortable with…….and………will work for you……..cheap is as cheap gets……..
2 :
There is no such thing as cheap in this economy. You pay for what you want and get. An adult should know this. Ask a travel agent for the lowest price but keep in mind the lowest price is not by any means cheap.
3 :
Try http://www.orbitz.com/. It will give you multiple airlines to choose from for that flight with their respective fares.
4 :
up until a couple weeks ago, you could probably have got for $250 or so plus taxes (probably 2x your fare). Now probably back up to more normal $1000 or so. advice? fly in fall

If I hold a standby ticket on a Continental flight from EWR to SAN might they accept it for EWR - LAX instead
If I hold a standby ticket on a Continental flight from EWR to SAN might they accept it for EWR - LAX instead?
I am airline staff (non US) and was just wondering what would happen if the San Diego flight was full and if they might let me on a flight of similar distance. It would be a revenue standby ticket though not a free one.

Call them and ask. Sometimes they will go ahead and change it for you with no problems, other times they are very picky about it. When you call, make sure to take down the date, time, and who you talked to in case there are any questions later on. In my experience I have found that when I fly with the airline my husband works for, they have no problem in changing my tickets last minute. When I ask other airlines to do it, they usually drag their feet though. Good luck and I hope they can do it for you!
2 :
yes, you can always be rerouted if the flight you are scheduled to take is very delayed, overbooked or whatever. staff normally handles this at the airport at check-in....but you need someone who is helpful!!! but of course you can always inquire in advance....
3 :
base on my experience usually if the ticket price is the same between both destination maybe u will be allowed to change sector .. but it depend on that airlines regulation as well .. n depend on the agreement between your airline n the carrier airline, better check with the airline that u are flying with .. they might have different regulation ...

Have a 7-8 hour flight from San Diego to Philly- Have some questions
Have a 7-8 hour flight from San Diego to Philly- Have some questions!?
I am flying from San Diego, Ca to Philadelphia, Pa. I have a 1 1/2 layover in Houston Tx (Im flying continnental.) It is going to be a 7-8 hour flight all together, and this is my first time flying for this long. (Been on a plane once before, flying to AZ- about 1 hour flight) Help me to understand what to expect with the longer flight, and how I can entertain and enjoy this. Also, if you have ever been to the Houston Airport- What can I do in the airport to pass up some time? Thanks a mill!

Bring your ipod or portable dvd player. If you have a lap top that might help too. there are a number of areas around airports these days that have HiFi. The 1.5 hours for your lay over is not that long. When you land I suggest that you go to your connecting gate right away and make sure that there are no delays or gate changes. After you find your gate, take a look around, grab a bite to eat and relax for a few. Keep in mind that your 7-8 hour is really not that long, you are flying from the west coast to east coast and you will be losing time when you go through a time zone (3-4 hours difference). Safe travels Richard Sandstone Family Travel

Bring all of the items that keep you entertained at home. These items include an iPod/MP3, a laptop, and a book or magazine. Laptops can be used in various areas of the airport; mostly all areas. Make sure there are no delays or gate changes. This is a critical move. Bring all of your stuff to the restaurant or walk around a bit. Relax, that is, for about 45 minutes since the layover is an hour and a half, and they start boarding an hour early. Good luck...

charter flight
4 :
Unlikely. San Bernadino is a very small airport. It's not a long or hard drive if you can get a rental car and don't mind freeway driving--it's about 2 hours. Or you could probably take a cab to the local Amtrak station, head to the downtown L.A. Amtrak station, then transfer to the train to San Diego pretty cheaply. My mother does something similar when she comes from Claremont, CA to see me in San Diego, and she says it is pretty nice.
5 :
No. Might want to consider train...Metrolink San Bernardino to Los Angeles, then Amtrak to San Diego.
6 :
Rent a car, it's only 1 1/2 hour drive.
7 :
I dont think so but it wouldnt be worth it anyway.... its a really easy quick drive on the 15. I have to do it all the time and it seems like only a half hour ( although its proably an hour fifteen)

Try Priceline as they offer great deals on flights. You can choose your own airline, date and flight. You can save more with Name Your Price, last minute deals and prices are dropping inside track, check internet for details. Airlines are : US Airways, American, Delta, United and Alaska Airlines My suggestions: compare airlines, flight times, dates, is it cheaper to fly certain time of the day, weekends or during the week (it might make a difference leaving a few days earlier or later) and non-stop flights. Another good tip is to shop & compare Priceline’s website with the Airline’s Website. I hope that helps and answers your question. Have a safe flight.

San Diego Flight School is supposed to be pretty good, there are TONS out there. Of course if you have good eyes, join the Marines and try to get on at MCAS Miramar (wink wink). http://www.sdfti.com/
2 :
There are many here, but I'm not exactly sure what you mean by the whereabouts. San Diego county, downtown San Diego, etc. If you are looking for schools in the downtown area, chances are you'll be paired up with a school planted at the local airport, where as in small portions of San Diego county, like Carlsbad and such, there are smaller airports. One of these would be Palomar airport. Since you are just 'thinking' of getting a private pilots license, which states your lack of cemented familiarization about aviation, I would suggest learning how to fly at a smaller airport rather than a large one. Then once you are trained enough, you can switch over to a larger airport. There are plenty if you research; however, smaller airports in your area are more likely to be the best bet.

Can someone help me find cheap flights from San Diego To Las Vegas?
I've always seen super cheap flights that were under $100 dollars but I'm not sure what airlines are offering such deals. I need a flight from San Diego (Either San Diego Airport or Carslbad) from 5/6/10 to 5/10/10 for two adults. It would be very much appreciated if you could list the sites with great deals or at least the cheapest that are available. Legit sites only please.

I am currently searching hotwire.com for 2 adults on your travel dates. The cheapest I found with taxes was $609 for both of you. This is on Delta with a stop in Los Angeles, and on the way back, Untied, also with a stop in LA. You can fly on Southwest Airlines for the same travel dates for $562 for both of you (taxes included). If you can somehow get up to LA, you can fly to Vegas for $430 for both of you (taxes included). Try: Cheapoair.com Kayak.com Good luck!
3 :
I would go to Southwest Airline's website but you are buying tickets less than 14 days before your travel date so sometimes it may be difficult to find. http://www.kayak.com is another website you can check out.
4 :
I've booked flights with InsanelyCheapFlights.com, it's worked out well so far. I looked for cheap flights to Las Vegas from San Diego for you, best I found was Delta for $237 each.

buy or build an ultra light,,, no license required you could build one easy, but prob cheaper to buy a used one. Also , go take a " glider lesson" they are awesome. you can ride in them and take the stick too. because pilot is there. they are so fun. ,, DO IT ! GLIDERS !!
2 :
Not at 14. Nobody does. Check the age limits. Anybody can fly with an instructor, but you need to meet age requirements before you can solo or flight test.
3 :
No one GIVES licenses. You have to earn (and pay for) them, at the rate of over $100 per hour. If you have that kind of money available, then you can go to any general aviation airport and start taking lessons.
4 :
not by FAA regulations. you have to be 17 to receive a PPL
5 :
At 14 you can log solo flight time in gliders. Southern California has glider instruction. You don't get a pilot "license" in the US.

NO layovers it should be about 3 or 3 and a half hours

That depends on what part of Texas you are flying to...it's a really big state. I'd say from sandiego you're looking a 2 hours for the west side of Texas and 3-3 1/2 hours for the east side.
4 :
I just took a flight from San Diego to Dallas about 2 weeks ago and it took just under 3 hours.

Korean Air doesn't fly direct to Korea from San Diego, you're probably connecting through LAX. The flight from LAX to Seoul takes about 13 hrs. plus the time it takes to get to and connect at LAX. http://www.koreanair.com/

If it is a direct flight it would be approx. 13 Hrs 31 Min from San Diego to Seoul.

You are most likely taking United to SFO then from there you are flying a 777 to south Korea totaling in 18 hrs 57 min Now if you are going through LAX it is 18 hrs 45 min

how much is decently good deal for a round trip flight from San Diego to Atlanta?

It really depends on when you're taking off, but I can give you a decent idea: Priceline: 494 Hotwire: 399 Cheaptickets: 334 These sites usually give me the cheapest tickets, but they're giving a big range at the moment. I'd recommend doing a little more research at some of the multi-search sites like igougo, or booking buddy. Rightflight.org did a bunch of research on which sites are the cheapest and posted it on their site. Might be worth a look or two. Hope this helped!
2 :
I have tried many of the online travel sites out there. It really depends on what dates you are flying. My favorite travel website is www.everydaytravelconnections.com Lately I have gotten the best price from them for my last 5 flights. If you travel next month, they have a total of 70 flights going from San Diego to Atlanta, the cheapest if $338. My suggestion would be to compare prices and if you can search different cities near where you are traveling to and from, you sometime can save more by selecting a less busy/popular airport. Hope this helps.

I went to kayak.com and it seems like there are none. It is generally pretty difficult to find flights between non major cities that are nonstop. Not sayng San Diego is not major, but isn't it pretty close to L.A?
2 :
Anytime I want to fly somewhere, I always pull up cheaptickets dot com. It tells me every flight leaving to the destination area. And gives me lots of choices. I can see from the choices exactly which airlines travel to that area. And I get the best price on tickets and choices of times. It shows every airline that goes to that destination and gives the times of the flights. No guess work involved. And if it doesn't show a particular airline it means the airline doesn't fly to that area. It's all very clear and easy.
3 :
You might not. What I do and everyone else does, is fly into chicago midway and take the 18$ amtrak or greyhound into milwaukee, you porbably save over 100$ and find a flight easier!

The flight time from San Diego to Japan will depend on your choices of airlines and destination airport in the Japan. Also, there are no non-stop flights from San Diego to Japan, so you'll have to stop in Los Angeles, San Francisco, etc. Flight duration will vary from 13h 00min to 14h 56min. (San Diego / SAN - Los Angeles / LAX - Tokyo / NRT) - American Airlines (AA3046 / 50min flight & AA169 / 11h 30min) has the quickest trip duration of 13h 00min with a stop in Los Angeles. - United Airlines (UA6138 / 50min flight & UA891 / 11h 21min) has a total trip duration of 13h 35min. - Northwest Airlines (NW2646 / 50min flight & NW1 / 11h 35min) has a total trip duration of 13h 40min. (San Diego / SAN - San Francisco / SFO - Tokyo / NRT) - United Airlines (UA316 / 1h 35min & UA837 / 10h 47min) has a total trip duration of 13h 43min. (San Diego / SAN - San Francisco / SFO - Osaka / KIX) - United Airlines (UA853 / 1h 35min & UA885 / 11h 47min) has a total trip duration of 14h 56min. (San Diego / SAN - San Francisco / SFO - Nagoya / NGO) - United Airlines (UA316 / 1h 35min & UA831 / 11h 20min) has a total trip duration of 14h 33min. The actual flight time will depend on the winds, speed of the aircraft and the actual route the aircraft flies. There are other 1-stop and 2-stops options from San Diego to Japan but these are the quickest trip duration.

I think Hawaiian is the only airline that flys out of San Diego directly to Hawaii. Otherwise, Orbitz, Expedia or similar websites will give you comparisons.
3 :
When pricing your airline tickets, be sure to check the price for flying BOTH directions on Wednesdays. Middle of the week flights tend to be cheaper by a significant amount.

I just looked in Kayak. I checked on Bing's Travel prediction, it says that the fare will drop in coming days. One of the reasons that the tickets are expensive because you are selecting a Weekend, might wanna try some other closer date if that works Good Luck!

Also one that allows unaccompanied minors to fly. me and my brother are going. I'm 12, he's 8. Can someone please please please help me?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!????????????

Cheapest tickets will be found here... Kayak
2 :
1. http://www.kayak.com/flights 2. http://jetblue.com/ 3. http://www.southwest.com/ 4. http://www.cheaptickets.com/ 5. http://www.travelocity.com/ Can try all of the above but, the dates you want it for are coming out way expensive. I just looked in Kayak. I checked on Bing's Travel prediction, it says that the fare will drop in coming days. One of the reasons that the tickets are expensive because you are selecting a Weekend, might wanna try some other closer date if that works Good Luck!

without stops, its about 5 hours.
2 :
Do you want to go the short way or long way? 4:45 if you fly East, 37 hours, if you fly West.
3 :
Best way to do is to go to expedia, travelocity, or you favorite travel website. Enter your source and destination. The site should give an assortment of fligths meeting your price range, time constraints, and other criteria.
4 :
try using yahoo directions thingamabob
5 :
Try putting your departure place into some airline ticket thingy website...like www.expedia.com or www.aa.com or something. It should tell you. And if its to DC, I'll save you the time and tell you its 4hrs... state, more than 30 min I know...might be about 45 min...

How long is a straight flight from San Diego California to Oahu Hawaii
How long is a straight flight from San Diego California to Oahu Hawaii?

I don't think you have much of a choice beyound a straight flight it would be about 2000 miles If you have a cruising speed of 700 MPH It will be just under 3 hours
2 :
Ok, here the thing, if we talking bout regular schedule airlines, like Hawaiian, or American, then it gonna take bout 6 hours to fly from San Diego to Honolulu, and it about 2600 miles, or 2250 nautical miles, ok? Now most airliner cruise at bout .81 mach, although some go little slower, and some little faster, ok? Also, prevailing wind at altitude most airliner fly at from east to west, so you gonna fight that wind while fly to Honolulu, yeah? Now at bout 35 k feet that speed bout 535 mph, so that esplain why it take bout 6, 6 and 1/2 hours to get to Hawaii, ok? Now, you got faster plane, then you get hea faster, yeah? Peace and aloha to you, and come soon to visit, ok? Oh, and otha answerer says San Diego closer to Honolulu, that not correct, ok? Sacremento bout 2460 miles, san diego almost 150 miles FARTHER away, ok? Remember San Fran closest US City to Honolulu, cause of shape of earth and Cali coast, ok?
3 :
Kono Kohako is correct that you fly into a headwind (the "Westerlies") during the first part of the trip to Hawaii, so getting there takes longer than getting back (you have the wind at your back on the way home). I do think he is a bit pessimistic about the time. I regularly fly to Oahu from Sacramento on Hawaiian, and it's around 5 hours, sometimes a bit longer, depending on the wind. Since San Diego is closer to Hawaii than Sacramento, it should not take longer from there.

For something like that, you will have to charter a flight, which is going to be very expensive. Airlines don't fly to small local airports, so your only option is a charter service.
2 :
The closest airport with service you can get to, with a connection in LAX, in Fresno. There is no commercial air service to Selma.
3 :
there are quite a few sites that you can search that will likely give you the best prices available. check out the website BookMe and you will be able to compare prices on all the reputable travel sites in just a couple minutes. it's very convenient and will save you a bunch of time and money. Also, make sure you buy them online... otherwise they charge much higher fees for phone orders. good luck.

Flight from San Diego, Ca to Melbourne, Australia
Flight from San Diego, Ca to Melbourne, Australia?
I will be flying Quantas Airlines. Are they a good airline, do they have the individual tvs, etc? Also, I will leave San Diego Airport and fly to LAX, then to Melbourne, if you have done this, how long is the flight. Thank you

I flew Qantas back in 2004 and loved it. Their service, crew and cabins were top notch! All seats contain a television system with movies, television programs, games and music The flight between LA and Melbourne is roughly about 14-15 hours. Add the flight from San Diego and expect your overall flying time to be around 15-16 hours.
2 :
Qantas is an awesome airline one of the best in the world. Most international flights do have individual screens and that way you can control what you are watching. If you go to their website normally you can see what movies will be available to you during the flight.

Qantas are the best,i wont fly with anyone else yes you get your own screen and remote for movies,TV and music you will get a care package with socks eye mask toothpaste etc, a snack bag with water and snacks to munch on between meals the food is great and so is the service LA to Sydney is 14 hours then Melbourne is 2 hours from Sydney so depending on your flight path it will be around 16 hours enjoy your trip

How to get the cheapest fare for a flight from San Diego to Maui Hawaii
How to get the cheapest fare for a flight from San Diego to Maui Hawaii?
I want to fly out on a 3/1/2011 (Tuesday) and fly back 3/8/2011 (Tuesday). I am wondering who flys to Hawaii that would be generally the cheaper flights? I can look at orbitz, travelocity, expedia, etc. but are there better places to be checking? Thanks!

There are lots of websites for travel in the internet. All you have to do is to search it in the internet.
2 :
Those are the main sites to check. One thing you might try though is getting on the email lists of the main airlines that fly to Hawaii, and they'll have sales that come along periodically if you can wait to book, or they might have some percentage off coupons drifting around too.
3 :
Aloha! Congratulations on your upcoming trip to Maui!! I'm a travel agent and will say if you can package air/hotel or air/car together you'll always get a better deal - (there are more tricks too but this is the general idea) but without that this is what I found: I found flight on Alaska Air for about $540 per person - they seemed to give the best deal from San Diego right now Let me know if you need any more help - I LOVE hawaii!
4 :
Kayak.com usually compares the rates of a few airlines against each other. Expedia and Orbitz are always pretty good for comparison shopping also. Here is an article I just wrote on money saving tips for travel, maybe some of these tips will help you save a little more also! note: I do not get paid for these articles, nor do I advertise or sell anything on my site, I'm just trying to help people.

can i use my school ID to board a flight to san diego ca?
im 15 and i am flying to san diego next month and i know security has stepped up a knotch since i last flew. can i use my student ID as identification when they ask for it?

school ID isn't a real ID. it has to be state issued! at least u were smart enough to ask this a month beore your trip. go to the DMV and tell them u want a state issued ID! you should get one within a week. Why did you guys give me 5 thumbs down! I tried to get on a plane with school ID when I was flying to Houstaon, and they wouldn't let me, so I had to use my passport!
2 :
there's no need to. chidlren under the age of 18 do not need any form of ID when flying DOMESTICALLY. and no matter what your age everyone needs a passport to fly INTERNATIONALLY.
3 :
" Indiana Jones" is correct. See site below and read the first line.
4 :
If it is a domestic flight then yes, you can use it. TSA doesn't have specific ID requirements for minors, so if they ask you to show one, your school ID should be ok. School IDs probably already have your full name and a photo already. It is better to bring the one from the current school year though. It just depends on if they ask. If you are flying with your parent(s) then the likelyhood of being asked is a lot smaller than flying by yourself. Also, that website is geared towards 18+ adults, but it doesn't say anything about minors. So, it doesn't necessarily mean no.

Mountains on Flight Route From San Diego to Seattle
Mountains on Flight Route From San Diego to Seattle?
Hi, A while ago I took a flight into San Francisco and we had to go over Mt. Shasta, and I really got uncomfortable. I'm looking to fly from San Diego to Seattle at some point in the future- does that include flying over any big mountains? Thanks!
Air Travel - 4 Answers

1 :
Yes. You can use a thing called a map to see exactly which ones.
2 :
there are a lot of mountains and mountain ranges between that area. No big deal. The pilot will do everything possible to avoid hitting a mountain......that I can guarantee. It is done everyday all over the world. No need to worry.
3 :
The tallest mountain in the lower 48 states is Mt. Whitney, at about 14,500 feet, near the CA, NV border. Airplanes routinely cruise between 25,000 and 35,000 feet high. That puts a minimum of almost 2 miles between you and the top of the tallest mountain. Airplanes fly over mountain ranges thousands of times every day. Think about all of the flights from the west coast to anywhere from Denver on east. They all have to go over the Rocky Mountains. Happens all the time and nothing bad occurs. Personally, I think it is very interesting to fly over mountains. The perspective is unique and the features that you see are totally different than a map.
4 :
The most common route from San Diego flies over the water to Santa Catalina, then turns towards Los Angeles and continues north over low hills and mountains in SoCal. From there, it flies mostly over flat land until it gets about as far north as Lake Tahoe, where it flies over some low mountains again (9000 feet or so). It continues over that kind of terrain up past Crater Lake and stays over medium-sized mountains until it enters the Seattle area. All of these mountains are medium-sized, the highest along the route being around 9000 feet, which isn't very big. Since the airplane is typically flying at 34,000-38,000 feet on this route (a mile higher than Mount Everest), the mountains are far below. The route takes the airplane about 15 miles east of Mount Shasta, but it doesn't fly over the mountain (Mount Shasta is 14,000 feet high, so it's a big mountain, although still miles below the airplane). So you'd get a good view of Mount Shasta from a distance, but you wouldn't actually be flying close to it.

Flying time is 3 hours and 40 minutes on Southwest Airlines nonstop flights between Kansas City (MCI) and San Diego (SAN). Leaving at 3:50 p.m. would put you in San Diego at 7:30 p.m. Kansas City time. Subtract two hours for the time zone difference and it is 5:30 p.m. in San Diego.

Turbulance is not something that is consistant or predicted. It has to do with the air currents and weather you are flying around, to put it plainly. Usually when you transition from land to sea, there is some rough air because of the change in atmosphere. But unfortunately turbulance can be on any flihgt at any given time and you cant predict it.
2 :
All flights have some turbulence. Since you are flying overseas and for a longer than usual amount of time, you can expect there to be a bit more than what you would find on a 2 hour flight but it shouldn't be an abnormal amount. It all depends on the weather. Cliche but true. Try not to be nervous or get others flying with you anxious. Prepare yourself and you'll be fine. Enjoy the peanuts!
3 :
depends on air currents... here is a great website that can educate you in the basics of turbulance. I flew from here in san diego to Germany in winter and the turbulance wasnt bad at all. http://www.guidetopsychology.com/airfacts.htm the flight will be seemless. have a nice trip.
4 :
Although there is no absolute way of telling what the weather and air turbulence may be months ahead,. . . . But, having said that,......airlines and pilots are very sensitive to the weather conditions through which they are going to travel. If there are weather condtions on the flight plan, they can request a re-routing around bad weather by the air traffic controllers, or jets just fly at a higher altitiude above the bad weather. They don't want turbulence to affect their planes any more than the passengers. If there are very serious weather disturbances, the airline and the pilots have the option of cancelling a flight, or postponing it, or if the plane is already on the route, they can elect to land in a different city, or on different runways at an airport that wont be affected by crosswinds, for example. My advice: Don't sweat it. No pilot will subject passengers to ANY turbulence if they can avoid it, and usually the modern big jets for a flight across the Atlantic have plenty of power to make the flight as smooth as it can be.
5 :
Wherever the situation is turbulent, especially in the skies, there you will find turbulence.
6 :
It really depends on the day. Turbulence, like wind, is generated from a difference in temperature as the sun moves across the globe water and land heat at different rates causing an imbalance in pressure. If you take off in the morning or evening you are less likely to encounter it, but you never know. Also, the pilots typically select altitudes to avoid most of the turbulence. Good luck with the flight.
7 :
it dosnt always happen it isnt like oh this one has more it is a dailey thing it changes all the time

There are a lot of travel sites such as Expedia where you can find travel times: http://www.expedia.com/default.asp There are no non stop flights on this route. The overall travel time will be 13.5 to 15.5 hours depending on the specific connections. You'll also need to check the airline website for rules about carrying dogs and also check on the German laws regarding bringing dogs into the country. For example, the rules for flying with pets on United are here: http://www.united.com/page/middlepage/0,6998,1047,00.html You might find this site useful for information on pet passports, required health certificates, etc: http://www.pettravel.com/passportnew.cfm

The flight is about an hour
2 :
if they fly nonstop about 35 to 50 minutes (most of those flights are flown by the commuters which use smaller planes but the cost is high around $200 or more
3 :
what are these people talking about an hour? the flight from san diego to LAX is 20 minutes
4 :
wetsofencino is correct, the flight takes at most 30 minutes, lol by the time you've settled down in your seat the plane starts to land at LAX
5 :
If you consider the time to get through security, the flight, getting ground transportation and all the rest, you can drive to LA in no more time.
6 :
You won't have time to get airsick. But why fly for such a short haul? Take Amtrak.
7 :
It's only about 30 minutes, assuming there are no delays on the runway. But remember you still have to go through security and everything just like if you were flying somewhere else. I would recommend Amtrak.
8 :
About 18 minutes. About two and 1/2 hrs. waiting in both airports. Take Amtrak, or drive.
9 :
The flight is around 35 minutes. Simple as that. Just so you know, Metrolink offers rail service from from LA to SD and vice versa for $14 one way :)

What is the best website or the best deal we can get on a flight to San Diego
What is the best website or the best deal we can get on a flight to San Diego?
My husband and i are flying out to san diego this coming up weekend to find a house, whats the best deal we can find on a flight from north carolina (GSO) or tenessee (TRI)

Try hotwire.com priceline.com
2 :
priceline.com usually has good deals, but they sometimes cheat you, too. If you check the Delta flight on priceline.com and go to Delta.com, you'll see the price on Delta.com is cheaper. So I suggest buy a ticket from the actual airline website and not one of those phony "we're cheap" websites.
3 :
That would be expedia.com. Try it.

How long does it take to be ready to go from an inland flight (arriving in San Diego)?
I have to pick somebody up but I'm only used to international flights, it takes at least an hour for someone from an international flight to have their bags and be on their way (LAX). How long does it take for an inland flight in San Diego? Should I be their in time or calculate an extra hour?

You never know, plus they may land earlier, so I suggest you to go the early you can.

How long is the flight from San Diego to Seattle without stopping
How long is the flight from San Diego to Seattle without stopping?
I am going on a flight to Seattle from San Diego on Virgin Airlines and I would like to know how long the flight is ( my flight had no stops, I am an unaccompanied minor ).

Virgin America does not offer non-stop service on the SAN-SEA route -- according to their website, all trips on that particular route have a layover in San Francisco. (If a nonstop flight existed on that route, though, it would be between two and a half and three hours in length each direction.) EDIT: For the sake of accuracy, the only airline that currently offers nonstop service between San Diego and Seattle is Alaska Airlines -- no other airlines offer nonstop service on the route (Southwest has, at the very least, one-stop direct service). The non-stop flights listed by American Airlines for this route are codeshare flights operated by Alaska -- due to the Alaska/AA marketing agreement, AA sells tickets with their flight numbers on the Alaska-operated flights.
2 :
Are you sure you are not flying with American Airlines, who do fly direct to Seattle/Tacoma International Airport (SEA) from San Diego Airport (SAN). Their flight times are between 2hrs 50mins & 3hrs 03mins depending on the time you choose to fly. Virgin America flights all stop at San Francisco (SFO) and the total duration is from around 4hrs 15mins.
3 :
A non-stop flight would take about 3 hours & 15 minutes from San Diego. LAX non-stop to SEA is 2 hours & 45 minutes.
4 :
ok there are no flights from San Diego to Seattle non stop on Virgin "America" Airlines...If you choose another airline such as alaskan or Southwest it would take 2 1/2 hours...The total distance is 1038 miles....Hope this helps
5 :
According to FlightAware.com, the exact flight times is 2 hours and 21 minutes. Have a great trip!

Long flight: San Diego to Italy, i need a long book or two to read, any suggestions
Long flight: San Diego to Italy, i need a long book or two to read, any suggestions?
I prefer fiction books. All genres, i tend to like books with futuristic plot-settings, but not limited to this at all. Anything that is interesting and will take my imagination and emotions on a journey of their own. Something that makes the time go by quickly please! I have read all of the Harry Potter books, Twilight, Hunger Games Trilogy, Percy Jackson, Lord of the rings....

Darn, I was going to suggest the hunger games, those are great books. Try Unwind by Neil Shusterman. This is a great book. Just the concept of it got me hooked on it. I'm going to leave the reading to you so I don't spoil anything. Hope this helps.
2 :
You can start with Issac Asimov, or even Frederick Forsyth. I would suggest Asimov, Robots of Dawn or Caves of Steel. They are both set in the future...
3 :
Hi Jasmine, Well, it's good you're not limited to "all genres of fiction" so why not try a book about Italy? Read about their culture, the food, the people, Italy's history and possibly learn a few words in Italian. Nothing better than being prepared for a trip to a country other than your own. -Jeeem-
4 :
City of Bones by Cassandra Clare Nevermore by Kelly Creagh Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver If you would like to see a summary and review of these book go to my teen book blog at http://www.teenbookfanatics.com/ I am also giving away an autographed copy of Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins, one of the books I mentioned, here: http://www.teenbookfanatics.com/2011/03/april-2011-autographed-book-giveaway.html
