If I hold a standby ticket on a Continental flight from EWR to SAN might they accept it for EWR - LAX instead

If I hold a standby ticket on a Continental flight from EWR to SAN might they accept it for EWR - LAX instead?
I am airline staff (non US) and was just wondering what would happen if the San Diego flight was full and if they might let me on a flight of similar distance. It would be a revenue standby ticket though not a free one.

Call them and ask. Sometimes they will go ahead and change it for you with no problems, other times they are very picky about it. When you call, make sure to take down the date, time, and who you talked to in case there are any questions later on. In my experience I have found that when I fly with the airline my husband works for, they have no problem in changing my tickets last minute. When I ask other airlines to do it, they usually drag their feet though. Good luck and I hope they can do it for you!

yes, you can always be rerouted if the flight you are scheduled to take is very delayed, overbooked or whatever. staff normally handles this at the airport at check-in....but you need someone who is helpful!!! but of course you can always inquire in advance....

base on my experience usually if the ticket price is the same between both destination maybe u will be allowed to change sector .. but it depend on that airlines regulation as well .. n depend on the agreement between your airline n the carrier airline, better check with the airline that u are flying with .. they might have different regulation ...
