How's traffic heading from San Diego to LAX on a weekend morning?
Flights at 9am at LAX airport. I need to figure out what time to leave San Diego. Is it traffic going North bound on the 5 or is it traffic going South?

It is OK before 10am, but it is better to leave at 5 to 6am, and prepare alternative route in case accident shutdown.

The traffic is heavier on weekends heading south from Los Angeles to San Diego. The advantage you'll enjoy is the early start. You'll have nearly the entire interstate to yourself in many stretches. The downside is that you will be easy pickings for ticket-happy CHP, so leave early enough to keep your speed reasonable.

BAD anything around LAx is bad!

Are you being dropped off......do you have to long term park.......do you have to return a rental car? Is it domestic or foreign travel where you have to go through customs? Do you have the required carry on luggage or do you have to check your luggage. It takes longer to get through some airport security then others.......like example Southwest can take a really long time compared to American. This can all lead up to when you have to be there. Plus you must be in through security one hour before departure.

What is a good price for flights from California to San Juan, Puerto Rico in December
What is a good price for flights from California to San Juan, Puerto Rico in December?
I'm considering flying from San Diego, CA to San Juan Puerto Rico in mid-December and flying back to either Oakland, CA or San Francisco, CA 7 days later. Has anyone booked flights in December like this before, and if so how much did you pay for your flights? I have no idea what a good price would be? Thank you very much for your help!!!!!

start looking for prices now for december is the perfect timing; i always look for prices 6 month in advanced, but hey, that's just me. try www.kayak.com or look for package deals on newspaper in the travel section. do ur research and get a idea on how much to shell out and then based ur decision from there. hopefully, other top contributor will take notice of ur question and has more indepth suggestion for u. but here is a start, at least.

Call all the airlines in the owrld alphabetically starting with A. When you get to the airline where your flight is ask them what the refund policy is for that flight. Or could you take the lazy way and just post it here and have people who have no idea what your airline is or what fare basis the ticket is based on can take guesses or tell you what there Aunt Martha did in 2004. It is your choice

I grew up in San Diego. Take the holiday and travel. You can find reasonable hotels/motels in Mission Valley, about 8Km from the beaches, or further inland, around El Cajon/La Mesa for less expensive rooms. Many of the hotels/motels in San Diego have swimming pools. If you're concerned about the swine flu, purchase a surgical mask for the flights (R/T), and wear it prior to boarding and while in flight; remove it to eat or drink. If you can sell her ticket or get a refund for it sans service charge of around 25%, then do it, and then take your journey. You won't regret San Diego anytime of the year. Good Luck!
