That's a long flight, but not too long if you are a normal healthy person. If you've got knee or leg issues, take a ship!

That would be a very long flight probably more than 12 hours air time. If this isn't a problem then go ahead, but if 12 hours seems a little too long to do at once think about maybe staying somewhere for a day or two like New York to take a break from flying then fly again on to San Diego.

It is a long flight. However, there are no longer any flights between San Diego and Europe (British Airways stopped flying here after September 11th). So you will definitely have to stop somewhere in the Eastern US and change planes. Alitalia flies from Italy to several cities in the Eastern US - Boston, Chicago, Miami, Newark and New York (JFK). There are no non-stop flights from Miami to San Diego, and there are only two flights a day between Boston and San Diego. So the best places to stop would be Chicago, Newark or JFK. Also, several US airlines (Delta, Continental, and USAirways) fly between Milan and the East Coast.

You might have lay-overs, that will be the longest part of it. If your going to fly internationally. It is most likely going to be a long flight. But trust me, TOTALLY worth it. Just went a week ago, and miss it already. Just take some good books and read on the plane. Also knitting is fun, I read for the first flight- then read in the second. We had two lay-overs. One in chicago for 2 hours. That was bad. But it's worth it. Happy traveling!
