Well i suggest if you are going to fly on a plane to wear a diguise. Per say maybe a LONG BEARD and a towel around your head. And make sure to bring lots of fluids. and make sure to open up watches and such electronics and bring the opened electronics on the plane on your carry on with the wires exposed and such. And sing the song You Dropped The Bomb On Me outloud the entire plane ride

To make the flight a more pleasant experience, put all liquids in your check-in bag and not in your carry-on. There will be long lines, so be patient. And buy Dramamine - chewables. I've flown several times since 9/11. I have several friends that are airline pilots and flight attendants. It is safer now than ever to travel. Relax and have a safe flight.

Things have really settled down since the post 911 days. I mean as far as the overall feeling that is in the airport. I traveled alot in late 2001 and early 2002, and man was in uncomfortable and eerie at most airports. Things are better today. My best advice is to arive at the airport early. Beacuse lines have gotten longer since before 911. I would advise 2 hours. That way incase you do have issues, you will have ample time to correct them. Also remember that if you carry liquids in your carry-on, they need to be in 3 ounce bottles and be in a clear ziplock bag. Otherwise you will have to put them your checked luggage.

I flew in February from Newark to Las Vegas, and they seem to have their routine down a little better than before. Check out your airport website--it has the info so you know what you can bring and what you can't, wait times, etc. http://www.san.org/

For starters, some of the most important information you can have is about what you can and can't pack, and whether it can be carried on or checked. Here are a couple of links to TSA web pages that you should familiarize yourself with. The first is the TSA prohibited items list, the second is the TSA 3-1-1 liquid carry-on guidelines: http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/permitted-prohibited-items.shtm http://www.tsa.gov/311/index.shtm Make sure you get to the airport at least 2 hours before your scheduled flight (check what the airline has to say about arrival time as depending upon the size and normal crowd level of the airport, you may have to be there a little earlier even). At the security checkpoint you are required to remove your shoes and have them screened, so I would advise wearing shoes that are easy to remove and put on, as well as socks so you're not barefoot on the airport floor. If you carry on liquids (all under 3.4 oz. and placed in a 1-quart zip-top bag) the bag will have to be taken out of your carry-on so security personal can see it. All of the security measures can be a nuisance, but they're in place to protect us, and it's really not all that bad. It usually takes me around 5 minutes, if that, to get all the way through the security checkpoint. Depending on what all you're carrying on though, your stuff can become separated if it's in different bins, so just double check to make sure you have everything before leaving the security checkpoint.

The first tip is to stop worrying. Remember, an airport is a roof over your head with a restrooms and restaurants. Even if you did miss your flight it's not like you would be out on the street. You would be safe, warm and fed. Putting that aside, airports have no end of information that allows people to navigate to where they want to be. There are also numerous information points where you can ask for help if you are stuck. Millions of foreign tourist pass through every major airport month on month, and the vast majority get to where they need to be despite their respective languages. You are more than capable of doing this, don't allow yourself to get so nervous about it. Make sure you know which terminal you are flying from, you should be able to find this by checking the flight schedule of the airport online, or by ringing the airline and asking which terminal they fly from for your chosen destination. Once you know the correct terminal then make sure you get to the airport in plenty of time, and use the departures screens to locate the correct check-in desk. Once you have checked in you can use the departures screens again to tell you when the flight is boarding and from which gate. It is always worth checking out the locations of the gates while you are waiting to board, so you have a headstart. You will honestly been fine. I crossed the world on my own in my mid teens plenty of times.

>"navigated an airport" I thought the way you were talking you were trying to fly the plane! San Diego is a small airport! >"some tips?" First of all, can you read? There are signs in the airport that provide directions. >"i will get lost or miss my flight" Well I guess you had better leave for the airport way in advance! Search the web for the San Diego Airport map of the layout!

It's really not that difficult, and remember that you can always ask the staff for help. Basically, there are 3 steps: 1. check in. You can check in at any counter belonging to that airline. If you aren't checking in luggage, you can check in at the self-service machine (or online the night before). They will give you a boarding pass. 2. go to security. Just follow the crowds. 3. find your gate. Your boarding pass will say which gate to go to, and there will be signs. Once again, don't hesitate to ask the staff for help if necessary. Good luck.

There will probably not be a full meal, but you will get snacks and maybe a boxed lunch.
2 :
That info is usually listed on the ticket info...if you don't see it, call the airline and ask...anything else is a guess.
3 :
It depends if you are travelling a low cost airline you may have to buy your food but if your flying with a major airline like AA or Delta you will recieve a light meal and a beverage of your choice
4 :
It's best to check your travel itinerary or airline ticket, but my guess is probably not
5 :
Why wouldn't you ask the airline that you're flying?? how would anyone on here know that information when you haven't even bothered to mention what airline you're flying??!!

We need to fly to Los Angeles, but it's cheaper to go to San Diego with a connecting flight in LA.

We need to fly to Los Angeles, but it's cheaper to go to San Diego with a connecting flight in LA.?
We purchased tickets to San Diego with a connecting flight in Los Angeles. For the return trip we will have to drive from Los Angeles which is where we will be for our vacation to San Diego only to fly back to Los Angeles for the connecting flight that takes us home. Anyone know what will happen if we just get off the plane in Los Angeles and not get back on? If we carry on our bags and at least do that for the 1st portion of the trip that will save us a lot of hassle. If necessary we will drive back to San Diego when it's time to come home. Will we run into problems with the airline if we do that? We saved several hundred dollars booking it this way. Thanks!!

Call the airline's customer service department and ask them.
2 :
I strongly advice not to do this. It's not unusual that you can find tickets cheaper if you connect to another destination rather than just booking to the connection point. It's the complex world of airline ticketing. When you fail to board the plane Los Angeles - San Diego, your return ticket will almost certainly be canceled.
3 :
If you miss any leg of a flight the airline will cancel all remaining flights you have booked. It's all there in the "fine print" in the terms and conditions or conditions of carriage. Sorry, but you can't do what you're suggesting, it will end up costing a lot more than the money you've already saved.

I'm actually making that trip in 10 days! .....You can either take Southwest (from Love Field) or any other airline from DFW. The call letters for San Diego are SAN. The cheapest flight I found was on United, with a layover in Denver. It's a 2 hr flight to Denver; and then a 2 hr. 15min flight from Denver to San Diego. Returning, the first flight is 1/2 hour longer though.....
